Goodwood podium proves Tuthill Porsche race pace

Tuthill Porsche claims second place in the Goodwood Aldington Trophy.

A 1965 Porsche 911 built here at Tuthill Porsche claimed second place in the thrilling all-911 race at the recent Goodwood Members’ Meeting.

Driven by double World Sportscar Masters champion, Mark Bates of EB Motorsport, the Light Ivory Tuthill-built Porsche 911 stormed from fourth on the grid for the Aldington Trophy, to finish within reach of British Touring Car champion, Andrew Jordan.

“This is the fourth 911 we’ve built for Mark Bates, and he has done them all justice,” said Richard. “During our six-year partnership, Tuthill Porsche 911s have taken Mark to multiple race wins and championships.”

Our first 911 for Mark Bates and the EB Motorsport racing team was a 911 ST with a 2.5-litre short-stroke engine, later rebuilt as a 3.0 RSR that claimed back-to-back titles in Masters Historic. The beautifully presented 1965 short-wheelbase 911 raced at Goodwood needed total restoration here in Wardington before making its debut at last year’s Donington Festival.

“Every inch of a Tuthill-built Porsche is prepared in our own workshops, by skilled personnel with hundreds of years of combined Porsche experience,” Richard points out. “This unique capability brought in our first EB Motorsport project, and that professional association has grown stronger over time. We provide Mark with fast, reliable racing cars and EB Motorsport supplies high quality parts for many Tuthill projects.

Goodwood podium for Tuthill Porsche

“Our Goodwood preparations included three test sessions, to ensure maximum performance within the stringent Aldington Trophy regulations. Such success in one’s first race at Goodwood is an incredible achievement. We’re delighted to build potent Porsche platforms in which Mark can work his magic: our next joint venture is already under way!”
