Great results for latest Tuthill Porsche racing engines

Tuthill Porsche clients are enjoying speed and reliability from our latest-spec engines this season

Our clients have been enjoying some great results this season running the latest spec Tuthill Porsche racing engines. The biggest improvements have been seen on our 2-litre cars, at events including the Monza Historic Festival and the recent Zandvoort Historic Grand Prix weekend, but the EB Motorsport team also saw some great performance at Zandvoort running a newly-rebuilt engine in their Guards Red 1974 911 3.0 RS.

The first free practice session at Zandvoort took place on a Friday afternoon after some heavy thunderstorms. While the rain washed some of the grip off the circuit, the 3.0 managed a best time of 1:56.345 around the legendary racetrack – almost six seconds quicker than the closest 911.

Qualifying took place on the Saturday afternoon and again the RS enjoyed a strong competitive advantage. Lap times came down to a 1:55 on the warm track surface, which had been baking under glorious sunshine all day. The RS qualified as quickest 911 and the EB team subsequently found excellent race pace on Sunday afternoon.

Amongst the 2-litre cars, Colin Paton’s 911 has been very competitive all year, but especially since fitting our latest spec engine, with FIA-approved Tuthill pistons and our own exhaust system. Top speed at Monza was exceptional and a recent test at Silverstone confirmed the car’s pace. We are looking forward to a strong showing at the Spa 6 Hours next weekend.

EB Motorsport will also be running their 1965 911 – originally built here at Wardington – at the Spa 6 Hours. The car was highly competitive in Gentleman Drivers at Zandvoort, taking the class win and a superb fourteenth overall behind much quicker cars including a Shelby Cobra, Ferrari 250 GTO and several super-light Lotus Elans. The tight and twisty circuit is a real EB favourite, but the car also goes very well at Spa. The Light Ivory 2-litre was first Porsche home at the 2015 6 Hours, so we wish the team well for another successful weekend.
