Porsche 912 Restoration complete

A 1966 RHD Porsche 912 in Light Ivory gets the full Tuthill Porsche restoration treatment

We recently finished a light restoration on this Porsche 912, just in time for Christmas! It’s a special car to us, partly because it is a 912 (and we love 912s), and partly because it was one of the very first cars ever maintained by Francis Tuthill.

This 1966 Porsche 912 is an original RHD UK-supplied car that was owned by the same family from new up until it was sold a few years ago. It was maintained here at Tuthills for many years before it changed hands, so it is a very familiar car to us. When the new owner decided they wanted to sell it, it was offered to Richard and we bought it back.

The shell had already enjoyed some repairs in the past, so this restoration was nothing too complicated. Our fabrication workshop carried out some metalwork to the sills and quarter panel edges and both doors were rebuilt. The car was then repainted in its original Light Ivory and now looks as good as new.

SWB Porsche Restoration

The short wheelbase cars played a big part in our workload through 2017 and the trend is set to continue into next year. We are in the final stages of a full restoration/race shell preparation on a SWB 911 for a European client and will soon start on yet another 2-litre build for racing. These shells are never in great condition, so the 912 was remarkably well preserved given the state of many 911s of the same vintage!
