2.0L Cup 2019 kicks off in Barcelona

The 2019 season of the 2.0L Cup kicks off in Barcelona with Peter Auto.

Following a highly successful debut season as part of the Peter Auto calendar, the 2.0L Cup recently kicked off its 2019 season at the Espiritu de Montjuic in Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

While our team was supporting three cars for the opening weekend, seven of the twenty-four cars on the starting grid were built here at Wardington, and several other cars were running our engines. Powered by our latest-specification engine and exhaust, Tuthill 2-litre racing cars dominated the top speed charts during the race.

A new development for 2.0L Cup in 2019 is the gentleman class, for cars without professional drivers on board. Richard Cook and Harvey Stanley topped the gentlemen lap times in their Porsche 911 through qualifying and led the class in the race right up to the last half of the last lap. Richard came home fourth overall and was delighted to claim his first points of the season. He was followed home by two more Tuthill-built cars: half of the top ten finishers came from our workshops.

Of the other cars we supported in Spain, Philippe de Craene finished fifth in the gentlemen class and our newest competitor, John Bennett, enjoyed a superb debut weekend, learning more about his brand new car every lap and enjoying this excellent circuit. The second round of the 2019 2.0L Cup series will be held at the Spa Classic in May.
