Top Ten for Tuthill in Bahrain Classic Challenge

Tuthill clients enjoy a weekend of fun in the desert with the Peter Auto crew

The season ended for most participants in Peter Auto’s Classic Endurance Racing championship at Imola in October. However, some racers stayed on a bit longer and shipped their cars to Bahrain for the Bahrain Classic Challenge, Peter Auto’s final event of the year.

Run as part of the Bahrain GT Festival – a weekend of racing organised by the SRO Motorsport Group at the Sakhir Circuit in Bahrain – the Bahrain Classic Challenge took place from November 30th to December 1st. Two Tuthill Porsche clients flew their cars out to take part.

Practice and qualifying were held on the Friday, with qualifying run in the cool of the night under the circuit’s amazing lights. Driving his 2-litre race car with a brand new Tuthill Porsche engine, Richard Cook had a terrific session, qualifying as fastest 911 in tenth overall.

Two classic races were held over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Richard built on his qualifying position to come home as first 911 and eighth in race 1. The result was repeated in race 2: another great effort from Richard. David Clark in the Porsche 904 didn’t have quite the same good fortune across the weekend, but he did enjoy some night-time laps of the circuit all to himself before the event kicked off, producing some great video.

A good time was had by all in the desert: what a great way to finish the season! Watch Richard’s superb qualifying lap and both full races below. Thanks to Chris Defriez for the photo.
