Calling all Gentleman Drivers: Porsche 2.0L Cup

Richard Cook and Harvey Stanley win the 2019 2.0L Cup Gentleman Drivers

Richard Cook and Harvey Stanley have won the Gentleman Championship in the 2019 2.0L Cup series. The third podium finish of the season clinched the title for this consistently quick duo, who dominated the GTL class in a 1965 911 prepared and run by Tuthills.

The season started well at Barcelona, with second place in GTL and highest top speed in both qualifying and the race as a bonus. Round two at the Spa Classic weekend brought the first GTL win of 2019 from fifth on the grid and another top speed of the race.

After Spa, we moved on to Dijon, where things did not quite go Richard and Harvey’s way. Tuthill teammates, David Clark and Phil Quaife, set the race fastest speed and Philippe de Craene took the GTL win for a change. Dijon was followed by the magic of Hungary, where the Cook/Stanley pairing claimed its first overall podium finish and secured a second GTL win.

The fifth round of the 2019 2.0L Cup took place at Monza. We ran six cars at this event: the full story is below. All six cars came home in the top fifteen and Richard and Harvey took overall victory. In the final round at Le Castellet, they finished third overall, first in GTL and sealed the gentleman driver’s title.

“We’ve had a fantastic season with an amazing finishing record,” said Richard Tuthill. “Our guys have all worked incredibly hard, as shown by the results. Well done to all of our clients and special congratulations to Richard and Harvey on a great performance this year.”

In twenty-eight race starts through 2019, only one car missed the chequered flag. Tuthill engines set fastest race laps at four of the six rounds and our cars won the GTL class at five of the six, proving that drivers were not forced to go easy to maintain reliability.

Next year sees several new Tuthill 2-litre builds make their debut and we look forward to more success in the highly competitive Gentleman Driver’s class. This is where 2.0L Cup comes into its own, with a great paddock atmosphere and fantastic action on track.

Congratulations to all of our drivers on a wonderful season. Contact us to discuss a Tuthill 2-litre build or support during next year’s 2.0L Cup series.
