Hot Pink Porsche released from Tuthill Paint Shop

Hot Pink Porsche 911 is the latest Safari Rally car to emerge from the Tuthill Porsche bodyshop in Wardington, Oxfordshire.

I’m expecting some debate over the latest 911 to come out of the Tuthill Porsche paint shop. Draped in hot pink (and there’s a very good reason for it), the car is destined for greatness on this year’s Safari Rally.

It may not win, or even finish in the top ten, but you can guarantee that cameras will go mad for Pinky once it hits the ground in Kenya. How the car looks in photos is nothing compared to its appeal in the flesh: it’s a real head turner for all the right reasons.

Pink Porsches are nothing new. Fraise (Strawberry Pink) was offered as a factory colour back in the 1970s, and Porsche built an impact-bumper show car in Pink for 1974, with gold Carrera stripes and matching Fuchs wheels. Rubystone (Dark Pink) is very sought after on the 964RS.

Porsche painted one of its own 917s pink, adding butcher cut lines and sending it racing as ‘The Pink Pig’. The Pink Pig takes pride of place in the 917 line up at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, so there is some historic Porsche support for this excellent colour.
