Peking to Paris Tuthill Porsche 356 Visit

Tuthill Porsche at Wardington was visited by the WEVO Porsche 356 which recently completed the 14,000-kilometre Peking to Paris Rally, achieving a first in class finish.

Earlier this week, Tuthill Porsche at Wardington was visited by the Porsche 356 which recently completed the 14,000-kilometre Peking to Paris Rally.

The car was prepared by Hayden Burvill at WEVO in San Carlos, California, and driven by owner Steven Harris with Hayden navigating. It finished first in the post-1957 class and drove every mile of the event: all 8,800 of them.

Peking to Paris is a merciless test of a vehicle. Running 37 days from start to finish, over a route that takes in the Gobi Desert as well as Northern Iran, you know it’s not going to be a walk in the park. So, it was appropriate for the 356 – named Lola – to visit Wardington and compare notes versus how our own Peking-Paris 356 was put together.

Francis reckoned that, while he would have run a higher ride height and no skid pans, the car was very nicely put together, and a credit to the 356 spirit: completing the event in style, with very few obvious changes to standard. Meeting Lola has inspired Tuthill Senior to pull our own P2P 356 out of storage, for a back-to-back comparison test: should be fun!
