Peter Auto launches The 2.0L Cup for SWB 911s

Peter Auto announces The 2.0L Cup: a one-make championship for pre-’66 Porsche 911s which debuts with four European events in 2018.

Eminent European historic motorsport organiser, Peter Auto, has announced The 2.0L Cup: a new single-make racing series for historic pre-’66 SWB Porsche 911s. All 2-litre SWB 911s prepared to FIA pre-’66 regulations are eligible for the debut four-race series in 2018.

The 2.0L Cup will form part of three Peter Auto meetings in 2018: Spa Classic (18-20 May), Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or (8-10 June) and the Dix Mille Tours (31st August-2nd September). At these events, drivers in The 2.0L Cup will have a 30-minute free practice session, 30-minute qualifying session and a 90-minute race. The new series will also be included in the schedule of a major international motorsport event: details to follow in January.

Tuthill Porsche is a partner in the venture, along with Lee Maxted-Page, Kevin Morfett and James Turner: Director of the 2L Racing Group. We have contributed to a tight set of technical regulations that will be available, along with entry forms and further details, from mid-December. The series is expected to attract around forty cars, with drivers including former factory pilots. The organisers plan to add an event in Great Britain for 2019.

“The Porsche 911 is rightly regarded as one of the world’s greatest sports cars, so we are delighted to launch this exciting new one-make historic race series to coincide with the 70th anniversary of Porsche in 2018,” said James Turner. “Working with Lee Maxted-Page, we have put together the largest ever database of early SWB Porsche 911s eligible to race in The 2.0L Cup series. I’d like to thank Patrick Peter and his hardworking team, plus my fellow partners in the joint venture  – Lee Maxted-Page, Kevin Morfett and Richard Tuthill – for all of their hard work in bringing this dream to reality.”

“We are delighted to be involved in this exciting new series for SWB cars,” said Richard. “With a great list of circuits, sensible first-season calendar and the power of Peter Auto behind it, we are certain it will be something very special. We look forward to discussing The 2.0L Cup with our clients as part of a busy events schedule for 2018.”
