Tuthill Porsche in action at the Hungaroring Classic

Tuthill Porsche 911 races at the Hungaroring Classic with Peter Auto

Tuthill Porsche historic race cars are back in action this weekend. David Huxley will race his Tuthill-prepared 1965 Porsche 911 2-litre in Sixties Endurance at the Hungaroring Classic, sharing the driving with Nigel Greensall and supported by our technicians in the pits.

Run by our friends at Peter Auto, and taking place from September 29 to October 1, the Hungaroring Classic is Peter Auto’s first meeting in Eastern Europe and marks a change from the organiser’s established events at tracks including Le Mans, Spa or Monza. It brings historic racing on a grand scale to the wonderful circuit just outside Budapest for the very first time.

“The Hungaroring is used to spearheading change,” say the organisers. “In 1986, it was the first circuit on the other side of the Iron Curtain to welcome a Formula One event. Of course, a gem of a city nearby only adds to the attraction. Competitors and fans will revel in the delights of Budapest, the pearl of the Danube, its majestic buildings and famous thermal baths.”

We recently tested David’s classic Porsche 911 at Silverstone, trying out new brake compounds and suspension settings. Fitted with our latest 2-litre race engine, and many special in-house parts approved by the FIA under 2-litre homologation regs, including pistons, heads, crankshaft and exhaust, the 911 produces excellent power and sounds absolutely fabulous. We wish David and Edward a fast and reliable weekend.

The Hungaroring Classic weekend starts with free practice on Friday morning, followed by qualifying at the end of the day. With forty cars on the grid for the two-hour sixties Endurance race on Saturday evening, the spectators are in for quite a show. Learn more at hungaroringclassic.com.
