We’ve just finished three days with the Tuthill Porsche R-GT at the superb RallyLegend gathering in San Marino. The R-GT took part in the day and night rally car runs, and our driver was also called to share his memories of Björn Waldegård, alongside Stig Blomqvist, Hans Thorzelius, Didier Auriol, Juha Kankunen, Markku Alen and Kikki Kivimaki.

We came to RallyLegend with the great Harri Toivonen: son of Pauli Toivonen and younger brother of Henro. Pauli famously won the 1968 European Rally Championship in a Porsche 911T, and Henri became a great hero of Porsche fans everywhere with the Prodrive Rothmans 911 SC RS cars alongside our old friend, Fred Gallagher.

Harri is perhaps better known for circuit and endurance racing, reaching a top ten finish at the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans with a Kremer Porsche 962, but passion for rallying runs in the family. Harri drove the Tuthill Porsche 911 R-GT at Rallyday in support of the Richard Burns Foundation and immediately asked if we could take it to RallyLegend after WRC France. We were happy to oblige!

RallyLegend is a huge rallying event, where many famous cars and drivers delight Italian fans in the Republic of San Marino, not to mention thousands more who travel from all over Europe. The weekend was our first running of the R-GT in Italy and our first RallyLegends event, but no doubt we’ll be back!
