Tuthill Porsche 911 2-litres enjoy Le Mans Classic

Five Tuthill Porsche 911s enjoyed driving the full 24-Hour circuit at the recent Le Mans Classic weekend. Read more!

Tuthill Porsche supported five SWB Porsche 911 2-litre cars at the recent Le Mans Classic weekend.  Three of our pre-’66 911s were making their debut appearance on track, following complete bare-shell rebuilds here at Wardington. The trio included the eye-catching Paul Smith-striped car recently built for Sports Purpose in Bicester (main pic), which has proven incredibly popular on social media.

After interesting practice and qualifying sessions, during which all of our drivers enjoyed running on the full Le Mans circuit, the 2-litres took part in the 55-minute Porsche Classic Le Mans race on Saturday afternoon. Belgium’s Philippe de Craene set an excellent pace in his brand new silver ’65 911 (below), coming home amongst the top five 2-litre cars, followed by Ian Dalglish, James Turner and Franz Wunderlich.

With the Porsche Classic race done and dusted, one Tuthill Porsche 2-litre 911 stayed on at the circuit to compete in the full Le Mans Classic event. Ian and James raced the Irish Green 2-litre as part of Grid 4 and enjoyed more terrific laps on track against period rivals. Grid 4 was packed with stars of the sixties, including a plethora of superb GT40s, which put on a terrific display of flag-to-flag racing!

Our next race weekend is Silverstone Classic from the 20th to the 22nd of July, where Anthony Galliers-Pratt will be back on track in the wonderful Aga Blue ’65 car.
