Tuthill RSR stars at Silverstone Classic

Tuthill Porsche 911 RSR trio at Silverstone

A trio of Tuthill-prepared Porsche 911 RSRs starred at last weekend’s Silverstone Classic race meeting. All three cars qualified for the FIA Masters Sportscar race late on Saturday evening, and all three took the chequered flag, with the Light Yellow 1973 RSR of Mark Bates coming home first in class.

Fast becoming the UK’s favourite historic motorsport event for real racing enthusiasts, Silverstone offered a great opportunity to stretch the legs of historic racing cars like the Lola T70s, Chevrons, vintage Ferraris and of course the epic Porsche 911 RSR.

Tuthill Porsche 911 RSR 3.0-litre engine

All three Tuthill RSRs feature three-litre engines: the powerful, reliable workhorse that underpinned Porsche’s racing programme for more than a decade. The weather clearly agreed with the engines, as both Mark and James Bates set their personal best lap times around the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.

Nothing beats the experience of racing your own 911 against classic Ferrari Daytonas, Ford GT40s and other Le Mans winners from back in the day. Tuthill Porsche has prepared genuine Porsche race cars as well as building FIA-approved replicas, eligible to run in race series around the world.
