Tuthill Porsche on Baja Rally USA

Tuthill flies Richard, Francis and a Tuthill Porsche 911 rally car to the Mexican Desert on classic Baja 1000

Richard & Francis are about to write a new chapter in the history of Tuthill Porsche, by taking part in the General Tire NORRA Mexican Tire 1000.
Essentially the Classic Baja Rally, the event starts tomorrow (Saturday April 27) and runs until May 1. We’ve flown an interesting in-house Porsche to the Baja Peninsula, to mix a Mexican cocktail that the locals might like: Francis’ own Challenge-spec 911, which he ran the RAC in a few years ago.
There’s only one day to wait until the rally gets started and we see what comes next. Sadly, Richard can’t stay for the whole event, as a punishing schedule through April and May requires him to be in Morocco early next week, where more of our cars will start another epic desert event.
2013 could be the year the Tuthills earn the ‘Porsche Sandmen’ moniker. There are so many deserts in the world, and a Tuthill Porsche has been across most of them, quickly and reliably. We’re learning every time out – it’s exciting to keep finding new things to do in classic 911s!
More news from Baja as we get it. Richard now has Twitter enabled on his iPhone, so fingers crossed they get a data signal for pics. His first text tweet said the car took longer than expected to clear customs, so will arrive in the paddock later this evening.
