Stan Bernard: Champion Scottish Classic Racer

Tuthill Porsche customer Stan Bernard wins the Scottish Classic Sports and Saloons Championship title

I received this race report from north of the border. It tells how, in typical Scottish weather, Tuthill friend and customer Stan Bernard recently clinched the Scottish Classic Sports and Saloons Championship.

As our friends at TwinSpark Racing have just won the Dutch Historic Touring and GT Championship, and Mark Bates  in his Tuthill Porsche-built 911 RSR has just won the World Sportscar Masters championship, let’s hope these series wins come in fours. We’re not going to Africa just to see the lions & elephants!

Congratulations Stan! A well-deserved victory for a hard-fighting competitor. Here’s the report from the final race:

After qualifying on pole in wet and windy conditions, Stan Bernard finally secured the overall title in the Scottish Classic Sports & Saloon Championship at Knockhill last Sunday, driving his Tuthill-engined Porsche 911.

Going into the race, Stan required only 1 point after a season long 16 race battle with John Marshall’s BDG Escort and on a damp and oil covered track, which claimed several victims including a safety car period, he drove a measured race finishing second behind the Escort which was sufficient to win the Championship by 50 points from his rival.
