Tuthill Porsche Historic Belgian Championship 911

Tuthill Porsche is defending the 2013 Belgian Historic Championship Title with Glenn Janssens 911

We’ve wheeled the mega-Porsche out of hibernation and into the rally workshop, to prepare for what should be a top year of rallying in Europe.

Owned by our great friend, Glenn Janssens, the car is a firebreathing 300+ bhp monster on slide throttles. “The fastest 911 we’ve ever built” is how Richard described it at unveiling last year. It certainly proved that way, taking the fight to the all-conquering Escorts and thrashing them at home.

We clinched the 2012 Belgian Historic Rally Championship with overall victory on the East Belgian Rally, penultimate round of this hotly-contested series. Speaking from the finish line, Richard was over the moon.”For us, this is special. To take a driver from novice to champion in three years, in one of the most competitive championships in Europe is a fantastic achievement. What makes it even more better is it’s been such fun. This is down to Glenn’s approach: he’s a special character!”

It was also the first Belgian Championship for Glenn’s regular co-driver, Stefan Prevot. Both did a terrific job through all of last year, as did the boys who maintained the car here at Wardington. It was no small undertaking to challenge some of the strongest rally competition in Europe when based on the other side of the Channel, but we pulled it off.

This year, the pressure is on to defend. We’ve got the engine and box out, and leak down testing has revealed no concerns. The engine will therefore get a simple service before being mated with our new V2 dog box and put back in the Porsche. Testing might happen or it might not – depends on how the driver feels. Either way, we’ll be ready for action at Haspengouw on the 22nd and 23rd of February.
