More Porsche 911 2-litre builds in progress

A look at all of the 2-litre Porsche 911 SWB builds currently making their way through the Tuthill Porsche workshops

SWB Porsche 911 2-litre cars dominate our current builds. Most are being put together for classic Porsche racing or other forms of historic motorsport, such as marathon rallying on global adventure trails, but we have also restored several SWB 911s to original spec in recent months. Here’s a little run through our current 2-litre projects.

The fabrication department is currently putting the finishing touches to a 2-litre shell for racing. The car has been fully restored with a long list of panels replaced or repaired. In some cases, our team will remove panels from the car, repair them and refit to retain originality. The final items on our list for this car include fitting the roll cage. Once that is complete, the car will move to our paint and body workshop for primer and paint to the customer’s specification.

A second 2-litre shell has just arrived in the paint shop from fabrication following full bodyshell restoration and strengthening. This car is being put into primer to protect the bare metal. It needs a little more work in a couple of areas before we go ahead with full paint and then on to the assembly. The finished article will feature suspension and drivetrain to 2.0L Cup specification but with a fully trimmed interior to allow comfortable road use.

Across the yard, another 2-litre car build is in progress for one of our European clients. Finished in Bali Blue, the bodyshell is fresh from the paint shop and has now been rolled in to our race workshop for assembly to 2.0L Cup spec, including one of our latest engines. At the of the workshop is our final current 2-litre project: the Diamond Silver 911 that has been fully restored here at Tuthill Porsche and is being put together for one of Europe’s largest Porsche dealerships.

The 911 is a highly versatile platform for motorsport. All of our race cars are built with stronger shells which can easily be repurposed to do several things: enthusiastic road use, circuit use and lighter regularity rallying. Heavier duty rallying requires underbody protection and the mounts add weight to race cars, but it is not impossible to add these.

We are always ready to talk to new clients about building their dream 911. Email us to discuss your Porsche plans and how we can help.
