Top Ten finish for Tuthill Twins in Dijon 2.0L Cup

The Tuthill Porsche 2-litre race cars of David Huxley and Colin Paton both finished in the top ten at the second round of the 2.0L Cup last weekend.

The Tuthill Porsche 2-litre race cars of David Huxley and Colin Paton both finished in the top ten at the second round of the 2.0L Cup last weekend. Held as part of Peter Auto’s Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or at the Dijon-Prenois circuit, the 54th running of this epic event drew 15,000 spectators across the weekend, all keen to see some great historic racing between 250 wonderfully prepared racing cars.

In contrast to much of the rest of France, which was suffering from the same stormy conditions and sudden downpours that interrupted the first 2.0L Cup race at Spa last month, the weather in Dijon was warm and dry all weekend. Our 911 drivers took to the track on Friday for practice and enjoyed the warm-up session, Colin and David finishing eleventh and thirteenth respectively.

Saturday was the qualifying session and both cars ran well. David’s Brumos-liveried number 59 car set a best time of 1:44.052 to claim a place on the fourth row of the grid, with Colin just four tenths of a second behind him in car number 8. The old adage held true for the race: “to finish first, first you have to finish.” Several of our competitors retired before the  chequered flag, but both of our drivers made up places on their way to the finish. Colin made up two positions and finished tenth overall, while David and his regular driving partner, Nigel Greensall, finished just off the podium in fourth overall, setting the second fastest race lap of a 1:41.2 along the way.

The next event on Peter Auto’s calendar is the ninth Le Mans Classic, from July 6-8. Held on the full Le Mans 24-Hour circuit, Europe’s most glamorous vintage racing event will play host to 650 historic racing cars and more than one thousand drivers from thirty countries, featuring ten Le Mans winners and many world champions including former Formula 1 champion, Jenson Button. We are running several cars in the 2.0L Cup race, as part of a huge celebration marking Porsche’s 70th anniversary. Come and join us in La Sarthe!
