Tuthill Porsche 911 RSR on Tour Britannia 2011

Bad luck for Team Tuthill last weekend when the Porsche 911 RSR of Chip Connor and Danny Sullivan missed victory on Tour Britannia

Bad luck for Team Tuthill last weekend, as the Porsche 911 RSR of Chip Connor and Danny Sullivan narrowly missed victory in the 2011 Tour Britannia.

This year’s Tour Britannia was a real humdinger. New impetus on the promotion side brought a big lift in entries compared to last year, and the great British road race was a flat-out event from start to finish.

Indy 500 winner Danny Sullivan (wife Brenda recently ran with us on the Severn Valley rally) was electric behind the wheel of the historic orange RSR, winning the last race at Silverstone in fine style, but Chip and Danny could not negate four minutes lost in Epynt, which left the pair 51 seconds down on the winner at the chequered flag.

There is some consolation in second place on such a competitive series of sprints, and the car running beautifully and brilliantly in front of a very enthusiastic audience. But a win: a win for our friends and our team would have been something else.
