Tuthill Porsche 997 R-GT rally car for sale

Porsche 997 R-GT rally car driven by François Delecour to win the 2015 FIA R-GT Cup is for sale.

Tuthill Porsche is pleased to offer Francois Delecour’s FIA R-GT Cup-winning Porsche 997 R-GT rally car for sale. Built on a Gen II Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car, the 997 R-GT has just been fully rebuilt and is ready to tackle both FIA World and European Championship rallies, as well as all national rally championships.

Porsche 997 R-GT Specification

Powered by a 3.8-litre flat six engine with Porsche sequential transmission, this unique 997 R-GT rally car underwent extensive development before and throughout the 2015 season. Originally built by Porsche Motorsport in Weissach as a single-seat circuit racer, the roll cage was completely redesigned in accordance with the latest FIA WRC specifications to accommodate a crew of two. The fuel system was overhauled updated for WRC use. The suspension was completely reworked, with WRC-specification by world famous EXE-TC Suspension and an extensive list of upgraded components in line with R-GT regulations.

The braking system was re-engineered for rallying, where braking on a wide variety of surfaces is the norm, and the handbrake is extensively used to control the car. Alongside the changes to chassis electronics, the additional equipment required in rallying called for numerous upgrades to the cockpit wiring, all of which has been extensively tested in competition. R-GT regulations also call for the fitment of two spare wheels. The car also has much improved underbody protection front and rear.

Porsche 997 R-GT: Fans’ Favourite

Hundreds of hours of testing and detailed preparation by the world’s leading Porsche 911 rally specialists have gone into making this Porsche 997 GT3 Cup the most exciting rally car of recent years and a sure-fire favourite with rally fans around the world. Driven by WRC legend, François Delecour, the 997 R-GT was an unbeatable spectator attraction on all of the rallies it took part in, including the Monte Carlo Rally and Tour de Corse, both of which it won. The 997 R-GT has set top five times overall against the best European R5 cars and drivers.

Supplied unliveried in a plain white colour scheme following a comprehensive winter rebuild including a full chassis check and jig alignment, the final package is negotiable but can include a choice of wheel and tyre options and of course will include driver familiarisation.

The cost to recreate the 997 R-GT rally car certainly exceeds the selling price of £170,000, but it is worth remembering that, as the first Porsche 911 to complete a round of the World Rally Championship for almost thirty years, and the only Porsche to win both the Monte Carlo and Tour de Corse rallies, the 997 R-GT is an historic and highly collectable Porsche 911 in its own right.
