We had a few changes in our road car servicing department last month. Long time service hero Martin left us for the bright lights of a big manufacturer, so in Martin’s place comes Tim Ford.
Tim’s been with us for a while and is the ideal candidate to head the road car workshop. With plenty of water-cooled Porsche work under his belt, Tim is a fellow VW fan: there’s a 1303S Beetle in his garage receiving new floorpans, longitudinals and a 1641cc barrel-and-piston upgrade, and talk of a water-cooled Porsche track car.
VW and Audi Servicing is always busy here at Tuthill Porsche. Recent work includes annual services on a number of modern VW and Audi cars, as well as some interesting Porsche jobs.
The Porsche Boxster above came in for new brakes, a full service and suspension alignment. The green 2.4 on the ramp alongside was a longer job, involving engine bay wiring, fuel injection and other electrical work.
We’ve just had the transmission out of a 924 Carrera GT, and carried out a suspension reset and clutch change on a 3.4-litre G50 Carrera 3.2, that had a heavy-pedal race clutch fitted elsewhere. The owner was not a fan, so left it to us to get the car working smoothly again.
